Individual Counselling

Individual Adult Counselling
I offer individual counselling both virtually and in person, for those 18 and up.

Individual counselling is a collaborative, one-on-one process between a client and a trained counsellor in a confidential setting. The focus is tailored to your needs, whether that involves processing past experiences, navigating life transitions, or working toward personal growth and healing. Get in touch to learn more.

Virtual counselling entails a secure and confidential online space where you can access support from the comfort of your own home,. This option is ideal for those with busy schedules, mobility challenges, or who prefer the flexibility of remote sessions.

In-person counselling will be offered in a private, welcoming office in Cranbrook designed to foster safety and connection.

Individual Youth Counselling
I offer individual counselling for young people ages 12 and up, with children 10+ accepted on a case-by-case basis. While parents and/or caregivers often initiate the referral and complete the intake process with their teenager, I also welcome self-referrals from youth seeking support.

Confidentiality is essential for building trust. I involve caregivers and/or parents as appropriate—ensuring that teens participate in the decision-making process—and clearly explain the limits of confidentiality at the outset of counselling. While I work collaboratively with families as needed, my primary role is to support teens in exploring the goals established, working together toward meaningful change.

Specialization

Systemic
Systemic therapy is an approach that views an individual’s experiences within the context of larger social, cultural, and familial systems. In practice, this means that alongside exploring personal thoughts and emotions, we can also explore the influence of family dynamics, cultural background, community, and societal structures.

Therapy sessions may include discussions about how cultural values, social identities, or family relationships impact current challenges, and interventions are designed to be sensitive to these contexts. This collaborative approach ensures that treatment is tailored to the client’s unique background, empowering them to navigate both personal and systemic factors in their journey toward healing.

Somatic
Somatic therapy emphasizes the connection between body and mind. In practice, it involves cultivating awareness of physical sensations through techniques such as mindfulness, movement, and breathwork. By tuning into bodily experiences, we can explore things like releasing stored tension or trauma, facilitating emotional healing alongside traditional therapeutic approaches.

EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a unique, research-based form of psychotherapy designed to treat troubling symptoms that are the result of traumatic experiences. EMDR involves identifying the most disturbing part of the experience as well as negative beliefs connected to the incident and then processing with the assistance of dual attention stimulus (DAS). DAS refers to the use of alternating, right-left tracking that may take the form of eye movements, tones or music delivered to each ear, or tactile stimulation, such as alternating hand taps.
